My Novels
This is the prologue for the first book:
There were footsteps, Charlie's head raced from side to side like a spectator at Wimbledon. There was no one there, the steps came from inside the fence and they were getting closer.
In an angry whispering voice he heard someone say, "Get up." There was no answer, no movement, just the still of the night.
Charlie's heart pounded, he stayed as quiet as he could. Again the voice spoke, a man, definately a man.
"Are you deaf? I told you to get up".
Still nothing, no movement, no sounds. "The last time i told someone to do something three times they landed up in hospital, so i really dont want to as you again."

There was movement, it sounded as if someone was picking themselves up from the ground, maybe using the fence to help themselves up, they were whimpering like they were really scared. "I'm gonna count to ten, if you are not back in the house by then i will bloody well drag you back, One ... Two...
The prologue of the second book is:
I want you to look for the A-B-C 2,
Or the J-K-L and the 5,
The T-U-V and the G-H-I,
Make keep your Maggie alive
Add to these clues, if you will,
a D-E-F and a 3,
make it a double D-E-F
Sorry, that's typical of me.
Don't look for the yellow, the green or the blue
Or the cat, the dog or the fox, |
|
Don't look for a bag made of leather,
Or a paper or cardboard box.
After reading it the first time, Charlie told himself to slow down, read it more slowly, it will make more sense. He read it again; he still didn't understand a word of it. The first verse looked like nothing, it was the second and the third that was really puzzling him. The ABC could be the old cinema on Stuart Street, but it's not been open for two years or more... what the hell does the TUV and the GHI mean?
